Privacy Policy
Last updated: [DATE]
The Bigger Picture ("we", "us") is operated by [COMPANY LEGAL NAME] at [DOMAIN]. This policy explains what we collect when you book an event or share photos, how long we keep it, and how to ask us to remove something. Questions: hello@getthebiggerpicture.com.
What we collect
Event organizers (people who book an event): your name, email address, phone number, the event name, date, time zone and welcome message. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card number.
Guests (people who share photos): no account is needed.
- Photos you upload. Every photo is converted into a new image file when it arrives. All hidden metadata is removed in the process, including GPS location, camera details and date stamps.
- The name you type next to your photos, if you choose to enter one. It's shown with your photos.
Newsletter sign-ups: if you leave your email on our homepage we store it with the date, only to tell you about The Bigger Picture. Reply or email hello@getthebiggerpicture.com to be removed.
Technical data: your IP address is used briefly to prevent abuse (for example, limiting repeated password attempts) and appears in short-lived server logs. Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address when a page loads.
Cookies: we use only cookies that the service needs to work, with no advertising, tracking or analytics cookies:
- an event-password cookie (12 hours), so guests of a password-protected event don't have to re-enter it
- a sign-in cookie for our own staff
Who can see photos
Photos in an event's gallery can be seen by anyone who has that event's link (and its password, if the organizer set one), by the event organizer, and by our staff for support and moderation. Organizers can download all photos from their event. We do not publish galleries, and gallery pages ask search engines not to index them.
Photos are only shown publicly (for example, on our homepage) when the organizer of that event has agreed to let us feature them.
How long we keep it
- Each gallery stays open for the number of days in the organizer's plan after the event date (60, 90 or 365 days).
- When the plan ends, all of that event's photos, thumbnails, guest names and the event's name and messages are permanently deleted. Removal from our backups follows within 14 days.
- We keep a minimal record of the booking (date, plan and payment reference, no photos or guest data) for [RECORD-KEEPING PERIOD] for accounting and tax purposes.
Who we share it with
We do not sell or rent personal data, and we do not use it for advertising. We share data only with service providers who help us run the service:
- Stripe, for payment processing
- our hosting provider [HOSTING PROVIDER]
- anyone the law requires us to share with
Removing a photo
If a photo shows you (or your child) and you want it taken down, use our photo-removal request form or email hello@getthebiggerpicture.com. We review requests within [RESPONSE TIME]. The event organizer can also remove photos from their gallery.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete it by contacting hello@getthebiggerpicture.com. Depending on where you live you may have additional rights under local law.
Children
The service is meant for adults organizing events. Guests sometimes photograph children at family events; if you're a parent or guardian and want a photo removed, please use the removal form above.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, tell organizers by email.
